THP-4: Religion Charter
Preamble: Coexistence of Religion and Reality
Research Version
The Horizon Protocol (THP) redefines religion as belonging to the realm of individual inner spirituality, completely separating it from the state and politics. The basis of coexistence lies in positioning empirical and verifiable "reality" as a common reference standard above all religions and ideologies. Religions are free to speak of hope and meaning within their respective doctrines, built upon this common reality.
Article Version
Respect each other's beliefs. However, no belief shall deny scientific or medical facts, nor justify acts that harm the life or health of others.
Article 1: Freedom of Belief and Separation of Church and State
(Refer to) Lexicon: Cult / Inviolability of Science and Medicine.
Research Version
All individuals have the right to freely choose, explore, practice, or abandon their beliefs. The state shall not favor or suppress any particular religion and has an obligation to maintain a thorough separation of church and state in public education and administration.
Article Version
What religion you believe in, or don't believe in, is entirely a matter of individual freedom.
The state and government must not favor or bully any particular religion.
Article 2: Obligation of Mutual Respect
(Refer to) Lexicon: Cult / Inviolability of Science and Medicine.
Research Version
All believers have an obligation to respect the beliefs and ideologies of others. Acts that assert the absolute nature of one's own doctrine and insult or attack the beliefs of others as "wrong" or "evil" are considered "intolerance" prohibited by THP and acts that destroy the spiritual peace of the world.
Article Version
Do not belittle or arbitrarily decide that the beliefs of others are wrong.
Article 3: Prohibition of Falsehood Against Reality
(Refer to) Lexicon: Cult / Inviolability of Science and Medicine.
Research Version
Acts that deny scientific or medical reality, performed in the name of religion, and acts that force such denial upon others, are not faith but "falsehood" and are prohibited¹.
Article Version
Do not tell "lies" that deny science or medicine for religious reasons, or force them on others.
Article 4: Definition and Exclusion of Cults
(Refer to) Lexicon: Cult / Inviolability of Science and Medicine.
Research Version
Organizations that deny the beliefs of others, promote social isolation, or exploit believers mentally or economically are defined not as religions but as "cults" and are subject to exclusion based on the THP Ethics Charter.
Article Version
Dangerous groups that deceive people for money or isolate them from society are not religions but mere "cults." They are not tolerated.
Article 5: Salvation by Reality
(Refer to) Lexicon: Cult / Inviolability of Science and Medicine.
Research Version
In the THP worldview, "reality" already provides universal and neutral salvation through all creation. Religion plays the role of speaking of individual hopes and meanings on the foundation of that reality.
Article Version
"Reality," such as water, the sun, and the earth, allows all people to live equally. Religion is built upon that gratitude.
Article 6 Supplementary Note (Violence in the Name of Religion)
Research Version
Committing murder or violence in the name of religion is an insult to faith itself and is not tolerated in any religious system. In THP E-MAD evaluation, this act is classified as a highest-risk ethical grave violation.
Article Version
THP respects all religions, but does not condone "harm to others" caused by them. Any war or harm to others caused by any religion is a nuisance to those who believe in that religion. Therefore, to prioritize peace and order, violence by religion will be treated with special strictness.
